Dok Bua Thai Kitchen
A few blocks into the heart of Coolidge Corner, Dok Bua is known for incredibly fast service, a huge menu, and of course the ridiculously cheap dinner specials. The dinner specials provide a smorgasbord of Thai appetizers (egg roll, fried pork dumpling and tom-yum soup) and a small portion of select entrees. Where the most recognizable Thai noodle dishes are perfectly fine, recommend digging deeper into the robust menu to find some unique bites. Come to Dok Bua for the spicy larb salad, Thai style ground meat, or roast duck in red curry over rice. Larb salad blends the signature Thai flavor of lemon grass with the freshness of mint and lime juice served with the protein of your choice (pick pork). The mix of zesty spices in the Thai style ground meat provided an adequate amount of heat without overwhelming the palate. Who knew that duck worked so well with red curry. The coconut milk of the curry enhanced the tender duck meat for a satisfying dish. Mas-Sa-Man curry is another solid choice. While the broth is a little soupy, the coconut milk and chili spices lend a nice pairing with the protein (pork), carrots, onions, potatoes, and peanuts. The vegetables are served very al dente. Venture away from the Pad Thai and you are all set!
