Poke finally arrives in the Boston area. True Hawaiian hospitality. Order at the counter and take to-go or eat-in. Note there are only a few tables in the shop. A little something for everyone even if you don't want the poke. (But why come here if not getting it?) Three sizes of bowls based on scoops of poke. The regular (two scoops) is the way to go if you aren't famished.
Ahi (tuna) and salmon shoyu are the standards and where to begin. Pick your base of brown or white rice and the side. Quinoa and kale for extra. The rice is the ideal consistency - puffy and moist yet slightly "al dente". Chorizo slaw is interesting yet do not pick up much chorizo. Kim chee cucumber is crisp and juicy. Pairs perfectly with the salmon. The salmon itself is buttery and smooth with a texture similar to sushi. Served marinated and cubed with a squeeze of ponzu sauce, crunchy wontons and macadamia nut slivers ($1 extra), and a dollop of scallion. The tuna is meatier with a slighty tougher consistency to the salmon.
