El Patron Mexican Restaurant

Small road trip idea. Worcester is a modest yet easy drive from Boston. Pretty close to the downtown area, El Patron Mexican Restaurant serves a favorite that has not been sighted since a recent trip to Los Angeles, huarache. Standard taco, burrito, and entree choices. Zesty mild tomato salsa is a refreshing start to the meal with thin and crispy tortilla chips.

Get three tacos for a meal. Adobada (pork in red sauce) is the highlight. Thin pork slices with a red chipotle sauce. Thin (and not too doughy) corn tortillas and a little cilantro. Carne asada is cubed tender chunks of steak and pollo guisado (shredded chicken) has a light mild red chili sauce. The huarache is such a deal. You will not go hungry. Pick your meat (adobada) and munch on an almost pie-like thick corn tortilla crust topped with the meat, a generous helping of sour cream, refried beans, and cilantro. Add some hot sauce (red chili) for an extra zing.
