Soulfire
Come for flavorful sides and tender meats. Tucked into a sea of ethnic restaurants on Harvard Avenue in Allston and a short walk off the Green Line - B Branch (Harvard Ave.), the atmosphere is very casual with delivery and catering also available. Sandwiches and platters available with four BBQ sauces (Soulfire, Fiery, Pitboss, and Sweet). Fiery is the standout with strong elements of heat, pepper, and vinegar. Slightly reminiscent of a thicker and spicier eastern North Carolina BBQ sauce. The namesake sauce is less spicy with hints of tomato. Recommend mixing Fiery and Soulfire. The platters come with choice of two sides, corn bread, and pickles. The sandwiches come with one side and pickles. The brisket is thickly sliced atop a piece of white bread (a la Texas toast)? Sauce is not needed but recommended for added elements of zest. The pulled pork is juicy with some sauce already cooked into the meat and presented the same as the brisket. The sides are traditional and recommend many of them. The baked beans are smoky and saucy. Potato salad and cole slaw represent strong elements of the backyard barbecue and the collard greens (with bits of bacon) blend vinegar and sweetness evenly. The corn bread is extremely moist and very pleasant. Make sure to come on Monday night (5 to 11 PM) for all you can eat wings!
