Brown Sugar Cafe
A few steps from the edge of Boston University's West Campus, Brown Sugar Cafe has a warm and inviting atmosphere with high ceilings. Patio seating is available when the time is right. The large menu showcases traditional Thai curries to house and daily specials. If in the mood for sticky rice, recommend num prik ong - slightly similar to larb with ground pork in a spicy tomato sauce with garlic and onions (think ragu), native to the Chiang Mai region of Thailand. Use the firm slices of lettuce to make a wrap with the meat sauce.
Old Lady Spicy, with the name suggesting, is a very spicy delight. With choice of protein (always pork), the mix of stewed and smoky Thai eggplant, string beans, sweet basil, and peppers blends the memorable flavors of this dish layer by layer.
