Cantina La Mexicana
In the age of artisan tacos, it is still nice to eat simple, well-prepared Mexican cuisine. Union Square's (Somerville) Cantina La Mexicana does just that. Start with the complimentary fresh and cilantro-packed tomato salsa with crispy tortilla chips.

With a selection of common "Mexican-American" dishes such as burritos and enchiladas, try something more unique to Mexico such as the chicken mole plate or chile rellenos. The chicken is tender and served off the bone with thick mole sauce, with hints of chili and chocolate aside yellow rice, refried beans, salad, and hot corn tortillas. The chile rellenos are stuffed green peppers with choice of protein (steak blends well - the slices are finely chopped and moist) and cheese atop a drizzled crema sauce, also served with yellow rice, refried beans, tomatoes and onions.
