Brookline finally gets Thai take-out on the far side of town (Brookline Hills area) on Cypress Street. There are two tables and a few benches inside the restaurant but this is solely a take-out place. Boasting a concise menu of traditional Thai noodles, curry, and chef specialties, Pineapple Thai is not shy on spice and you can even watch them cook. Yum Nua combines fresh and crisp vegetables with beef sliced thin in a slightly spicy and sweet sauce. Beef is quite tender and flavorful. Pad Ka-Pow is just that, packing a punch of chili sauce heat, the ground pork sizzles with flavor mixed with spicy green and mild red peppers, a lot of Thai basil, and white rice. For the chef specialties, other proteins are available - chicken for no extra cost or seafood, duck, or beef for $2.00 extra.

The red curry is pleasant with a velvety mix of sliced pork, peppers, tons of bamboo and Thai basil, coconut milk and a side of white rice. The chalkboard menu in Pineapple Thai lists "two peppers" of heat for this dish. With the mix of the coconut milk, it is not nearly as spicy as Pad Ka-Pow. Chicken or tofu are also available choices for curries or shrimp, seafood, duck, or beef for $2.00 extra.
