Happy Lamb Hot Pot
Sometimes it is nice to sit back and enjoy a meal without thinking too much about the food, what it tastes like, what are the ingredients, how it is made, etc. At Happy Lamb Hot Pot in Cambridge's Central Square, you not only enjoy the meal but can also ignore the inner analytical voice, because this food is delicious and the service is fabulous! In the tradition of Mongolian hot pot, the broth, in a large metal pot, is cooked table-side. While waiting for the aromas to boil, carefully admire the craftsmanship of the half & half broth - original with delicate overtones of meat, gogi berry, scallion, cardamom and other herbs and spicy with that Szechuan-style kick of red pepper and peppercorn.

For slightly above cheap, select a wide assortment of proteins, fresh vegetables, and noodles. Recommend trying at least one thinly sliced meat as it just takes 5-10 seconds to cook in the piping hot broth before eating. The pork shoulder is a good example with beautiful marbling on the meat. For a longer cooking time of about 3-5 minutes, try the house meatball platter with an assortment of fish, shrimp, beef, and lamb meatballs. Bok choy adds your green vegetable and oyster mushrooms and daikon provide additional texture contrast. Soft tofu is also pleasant dipped in either broth.

DIY cooking while dining out is always a nice break from the ordeals at some restaurants. Sit back, relax, and enjoy the broth. And oh yea, there is cotton candy to make and enjoy at the end of your meal!
