Stoked Wood Fired Pizza
Artisan pizza in Brookline's Washington Square and certainly a welcome to the neighborhood. Bit of a pizza shortage in this area. While some options in nearby Coolidge Corner and Cleveland Circle, Stoked's pizza is unique and highly tasty. Watch as the wood-fired oven rotates as it cooks your pizza. Might be a wait during peak meal times.
Personal size pizzas with a charred and slightly crispy crust. Menu split between traditional tomato sauce and without. Dining with a group? Make sure to get at least one of each category. The diced artisan pepperoni pizza is somewhat standard although the pepperoni slices are more like sausage and less like your NY slice. The mozzarella is incredibly fresh and the tomato sauce is slightly sweet. To cut the saltiness of the pepperoni, drizzle the recommended Mike's hot honey. One of the recent best salty/sweet combos this reviewer can recall. Need to find this stuff. Think it's from Brooklyn.
Mushroom and onion pizza is without tomato sauce and not missing it. As with the pepperoni, the aged mozzarella is the star with hints of pecorino. The mushrooms are meaty and the caramelized onions are sweet dabbed with porcini oil. Stoked knows how to build flavors.
